It does not appear from Mr Forth's statement that any application for passage in continuation of leave was made in time to admit of his return to his duties by the 15th or 16th of April, the date of expiration of his leave; and even if he had left by the Mail Steamer of March 20, he could not have been in Houghton by April 15.
I am of opinion that Mr Forth has not shown any grounds for the continuance of half salary beyond the 15th April, upon which date it ceased in accordance with the tenor of Your Grace's Despatch of 19th February last.
I have the honor to be, My Lord Duke, Your Grace's Most Obedient Servant, Robert G. Robinson
